Wayne Allen Laska, 81, passed away on September 17, 2025, joining his beloved wife, Maryann, who preceded him in death on July 1st, 2025.
Wayne was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his life with Maryann and his family. He was also a proud Vietnam War veteran, serving honorably as Specialist 4 with the 624th S&S Company, 1st Logistical Command in Long Binh, Vietnam.
Known for his enigmatic personality and quick sense of humor, Wayne brought joy to all who knew him. A true Chicago sports enthusiast, he was one of the most dedicated Bears fans and equally passionate about the White Sox. His love of history and nostalgia also led him to become an avid collector of antiques and model cars, surrounding himself with treasures from bygone eras.
Music was the heartbeat of Wayne’s life. His home was often filled with the timeless sounds of Elvis Presley, the energy of 1950s and 60s rock ’n’ roll, and of course endless Doo-Wops, plus the traditions of Sunday Polka. Outside of music, he found great joy in golfing and bowling, spending countless hours at the alley perfecting his game and enjoying time with friends.
Wayne is survived by his son, Russel Laska, and daughter-in-law, Chris Laska; his daughter, Marnie Koning, and son-in-law, Ricky Koning; his cherished grandchildren, Alexandra Laska, Kristina Laska, and Ivy Laska; as well as his daughter-in-law, Donna Laska. He was preceded in death by his son, Lance Laska and grandson Luke Laska. He was also an older brother to (preceded in death - Roy Laska Sr.), and Walter Laska - husband to Adrienne Laska, and uncle to Roy Laska Jr., Marc Laska and Juliette Laska.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
