Seth Kilgore

Seth James Kilgore, age 25, peacefully began his spiritual journey on September 6, 2026 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with his family by his side, following a courageous battle with pneumonia and heart complications.

Seth entered the world on July 17, 2001, in Parkston, South Dakota, born to his loving parents April Ferguson and Zachery Kilgore. By a beautiful twist of timing, he shared his exact birthday with his maternal grandmother, Audrey Ferguson, who always cherished him as “the greatest birthday gift.”

He was baptized as an infant on October 21, 2001 at St. Marks Catholic Church in Lake Andes, SD. Later in life, he accepted Jesus as his Savior.

Seth grew up in Winner, South Dakota, where he possessed a genuinely sweet nature, a quiet demeanor, and a huge, caring heart that touched everyone around him. He proudly graduated from Winner High School with the Class of 2020.

Seeking to be close to the family he loved so dearly, Seth later moved to Sioux Falls to live near his siblings. Throughout his short life, he developed deep, lifelong friendships with Sam Craven, Kaleb Sanchez, Hunter Foltz, Cyn Byington, Asher Craft, Michael Good Shield, Jack Ducheneaux, Bobby Jones, and Aidan Brown.

Seth found true joy in the simple things in life and loved spending quality time with his family and friends. He shared an incredibly close bond with his sister, Brikdania, aka “twin”. Those two could spend hours talking, making funny video clips on Snapchat of the goofy faces of each other and laughing together. Family game nights brought out his fiercely competitive side, especially during intense games of Monopoly against his brother, Lance, which would last hours. Seth also loved the digital world, frequently playing online games against his brother Tristan, and cousins William, and Hunter.

Seth was very close to his mother. When she got sick, he would help her get daily tasks done. Whether it was cleaning the house, helping with laundry, walking her fur babies or making sure she was eating and getting adequate rest. He made it his personal mission to make sure she laughed each day.

Seth enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing basketball with his dad and his cousin Chloe, sharing laughter over bean bags with—and against—his Papa John.. Seth put his whole heart into the moments he shared with those he loved. He especially looked forward to his Grandma Sheila's canning season every single year, eagerly awaiting his favorite batch of her homemade strawberry rhubarb jelly.

Seth enjoyed spending some holidays at Uncle Andy’s and some at Grandpa John and Grandma Sheilas house. Seth looked forward to the A.M.F. Tribe’s annual summer trips, whether we were floating down the Niobrara River or camping at different campgrounds (including Aunt Ardith’s huge yard). Playing volleyball, dodgeball and kickball with the family that attended, usually parents vs kids (with kids winning except in dodgeball against Uncle Corey and Uncle Ben). Seth held a deep and profound love for all of his extended family. He held a very special place in his heart for Darrell “Diz” & Marilyn Herman, whom Seth credited for constantly supporting and encouraging him throughout his high school years. Seth possessed a rare, gentle spirit; no matter who came into his life, he left a lasting, positive impression on them. His kind presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

He found love when he met Alivia. She remained by his side throughout his battle, comforting him however she could. She is expecting a baby boy in late October or early November. Seth was so excited to be a father.

He is survived by his parents, April Ferguson and Zachery Kilgore; siblings, Lance (Allyson) Boerner, Brikdania (Darian) DeVries, Tristan Kilgore, Gennefier Schuppan and Matthew Boerner; His beautiful girlfriend, Alivia Azzun; paternal grandparents, John and Sheila Kilgore; his great-uncle, Diz; his great-aunt, Marilyn Herman. Seth is also survived by his very large extended family: Uncles Daniel Perry, Michael Ferguson, Michael Rinker, Stacey (Julie) Ferguson, David Ferguson, Andy (Kari) Kilgore. Aunts Tammy Ferguson, Christina Tullos, MaDonna Rinker, Christine (Jack Williams) Rinker, Ardith(Dave) Frank, JoDelle (Corey) Doherty, Isabelle (Ben) Larson and many, many cousins:

Seth was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mike & Audrey Ferguson; his cousin, Dakota Mathieson; his uncle, William Perry, Great Aunt Margaret Ann Barr Gullikson, Great Grandparents Dearld & Mary Anne Flory, Great Grandparents Ralph “Red” & Fauniel “Funny” Kilgore, Great Grandparents Dan & Isabel Herman, Great Grandparents Maxwell & Bernice Ferguson.

We will have a celebration of life for Seth to honor his life and his journey at a later date. All who knew and loved Seth are welcome to come, remember his sweet spirit, and share their favorite stories or memories of him.
