Sean Patrick Linehan

Sean Patrick Linehan, born on November 20, 1967, in Wies Baden Germany and passed away on August 20, 2026, in Springfield, Illinois. His life was defined by a deep love for his family and the many passions that filled his days with joy and purpose.

Those who knew Sean will remember him foremost as a father, craftsman, and cook.

Sean was a man of varied interests and boundless curiosity. He found happiness in traveling—his favorite place, as he always said, was “anywhere.” Every new journey was an adventure to be savored, every destination an opportunity to discover. He approached travel not just as a pastime, but as a way to embrace life and the world around him. He loved to listen to music, and drive with his music loud to sing along. 

Alongside his love of exploring, Sean was a  cook who enjoyed creating meals to share with loved ones. His kitchen was a gathering place, alive with the aroma of his latest culinary experiments and laughter echoing from those fortunate enough to join him. Cooking was a way for Sean to show his care and bring people together.

Building and painting model trains was another passion that showcased Sean’s skill, patience, and attention to detail. He was best known for his handy eye when crafting his model trains, a talent that brought him great satisfaction and admiration from friends and fellow enthusiasts. Each model was a testament to his meticulous nature and artistic vision.

Sean’s warmth, creativity, and genuine spirit left a lasting impression on every person he met. His legacy lives on in the countless journeys taken, meals shared, and intricate locomotives fashioned by his hands. Sean Patrick Linehan will be profoundly missed, and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Sean is proceeded in death with his father, Edward J. Linehan. 

He is survived by his mother, Jean A. Tumulty-Linehan, his two brothers, Brendan (Sandy) Linehan, and Dennis Linehan. His daughter, Nicole Taylor (Alonzo), and two grandchildren, Fayth and Kobe. He has many nephews.

Remains will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
