Green Bay

Robert Drake Olsen, born on January 8, 1946, departed this world on December 13, 2025 peacefully with his children by his side.

Bob graduated from East High School in Green Bay in 1964 and went on to college, where he became a master machinist. In 1976, Bob moved to Pensacola, Florida, before returning to Wisconsin in 1978. He worked as a machinist for many years before opening his own furniture refinishing business in 1982. After retiring in 1990, Bob moved his family to Colorado, where he lived until 2012, when he then found his way back home to Green Bay.

Bob was a man of many talents. He was skilled in woodworking, mechanics, and master gardener, excelling in everything he set his mind to. His favorite pastime, however, was fishing—most often alongside his beloved brother, George. Maiden Lake held a special place in his heart, where his father built a cabin by hand in 1950 though Bob was happy near any body of water with a fishing line in hand.

Bob loved the mountains, four-wheeling, and traveling coast to coast. He had a gift for finding roads that weren’t meant to be driven, just for the adventure of using his winch to get back out. Travel brought him such great joy, and he embraced every journey fully. His love for music was undeniable and accompanied him throughout his life. He carried an array of albums and had a perfect pitch when he sang. Bob also embraced life with a wild sense of humor cracking jokes till they very end.

Above all, Bob was known for his caring and generous spirit, & sense of humor. He would give the shirt off his back to a complete stranger and loved his family unconditionally, showing it in countless ways throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him, leaving behind a wild legacy

Robert Olsen leaves behind a remarkable story of love, adventure, and generosity that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts, the music he loved, and of those fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.
