Peter Michael Erio, born on June 14, 1944, departed this life on October 19, 2025, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories and a legacy defined by his passion for literature, and the enduring love of family and friends.
From Jan 69 to Jan 70 He served as a language intermediary between ARVN troops and US and Australian forces in a psyops battalion. He was a spc 5 and awarded the bronze star, and an air medal during his service.
He expatriated to Mexico city then Guadalajara shortly after returning from service. He moved from there to Bogota Colombia where he met and married his wife Stella. For 35 years, Peter called Colombia his home, a country he embraced fully. It was there that he discovered the small town of La Unión, where he spent countless weekends. In this idyllic setting, he found solace and beauty away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, allowing him the freedom to reflect, write, and rejuvenate his spirit. He taught english in various language institutes, (Kaplan etc.) To Colombian businessmen and grad students.They had a daughter Diana who was with him at the time of his death in Quincy.
Throughout his life, Peter was known for his unwavering dedication to reading and writing, passions that became the cornerstones of his existence. He meticulously documented his experiences through detailed journals and was a gifted storyteller, crafting narratives and poems. His love for the written word extended beyond personal expression; it was also evident in the thoughtful letter tapes he sent to those he cherished, but refused to share his work with the world.
Peter Michael Erio's legacy extends far beyond his literary contributions and love for baseball. A lifetime Yankee fan, a true oddball and a lifetime friendship of over 71 years. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
