Lynette Erickson

Lynette June Erickson (Smith), 59, of Superior, passed away in her sleep on August 20, 2026, in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Lynette passed after a long fight with kidney cancer that ultimately spread to her brain.

She was born on November 29, 1966, to Cyndi Polonia (Smith) in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Growing up, Lynette attended schools all over the country but never ended up graduating from high school. She went on to take night classes and earned her GED.

She had 2 children, Andrew Carvell and Brianna Erickson, whom she loved dearly.

Lynette worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service for 32 years. She was proud to be the president of local branch 337 of the National Association of Letter Carriers for many of those years.

Over her career she primarily delivered in East End and Billings Park, where she made an impact on the community she worked in. Her customers surely appreciated her hard work, timeliness, and attitude when they asked where their package was. She may have called some of those inquiries “stupid questions.”

Lynette was proud of the work she did and was a beloved figure in the Superior office during her career. She devoted many years there to successfully organizing the letter carrier food drive, which has helped fight hunger in the local community. She took pride in running the yearly retiree dinner, where she was able to show appreciation for retired carriers who put years of hard work in before her.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing in a weekly pool league with her friends; as well as traveling the world, laying on white sandy beaches, attending craft fairs, concerts, the Renaissance Festival and the Minnesota State Fair. She was an exceptional artist, even if she would never admit it.

Lynette is survived by her children Andrew and Brianna; her mother Cyndi; her beloved pets Mia, Merlin, and Luna; her grand-cats Dracarys and Maple and her grand-dog Kenzo. Lynette was joined across the rainbow bridge by her favorite house guest and grand-dog, Cali, the day she passed. An additional heartbreaking loss for the family, but we are glad they are together.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lowell and Jean; her sister, Christa; her uncle, Frank; and her pets, Meeko and Koda.

UPDATE: There will be memorial and celebration of life on September 12 from 4pm-7pm at The House, 3148 South Chicago Ave, Oliver, WI 54880. After, we will gather at Champs Bar, 715 Belknap St, Superior, WI 54880, to raise a glass in honor of Lynette around 8pm.

Lynette will be remembered for her quick wit, sarcasm, and above all compassion. Those that knew her can surely remember a time when she offered up a well-timed remark or even just a look. Often that was all she needed to get her point across. She was loved in life more than she ever realized and she will be dearly missed in the same way.

Memorials or donations may be made to a local pet rescue or food pantry in honor of her love for animals and the work she did over the years in the fight against hunger.
