Dewey Bradley DeWeese July 7, 1955 – December 14, 2025

Dewey Bradley DeWeese, 70, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on December 14, 2025, at OSF Hospital. Born on July 7, 1955, Dewey lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.

At just 17 years old, Dewey proudly served in the U.S. Navy. After his service, he dedicated most of his career to the Illinois Department of Transportation before retiring and starting a landscaping business with his beloved wife, Paula (Harris) DeWeese. Dewey was known for his entrepreneurial spirit as he turned a small bait shop in his garage into a well-loved bait shop, diner and general store in Kickapoo, IL. that he, Paula and their daughters ran for many years.

Dewey was happiest outdoors—hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandkids. He was everyone’s friend, known for his warm smile and welcoming nature. You couldn’t go anywhere without Dewey running into someone he knew, and wherever Dewey was, Paula was right by his side. Their love was truly one of a kind, and he cherished their Wednesday date nights.

He is survived by his wife, Paula; his daughter, Jessica Joynt (DeWeese); and his grandchildren, Emmett, Ayden, and AJ; his brother, David DeWeese. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Clara DeWeese; his sister, Becky Daniels (DeWeese); his stepson, Bryan Denning; and his daughter, Josie DeWeese.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Brimfield American Legion, 121 W Knoxville St, Brimfield, IL 61517. Family and friends are invited to share memories and honor Dewey’s incredible life.

Dewey’s famous saying was, “All A’s today,” a reminder of his encouragement and love for his family.
