Dean Marty Oelkers

Dean Marty Oelkers, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at the age of 59. In his nearly six decades of life, Dean gathered countless memories, achievements, and relationships that now stand as a testament to a life lived with deep faith, unwavering kindness, and cheerful exuberance.

Born on September 17, 1966, Dean grew into a man whose earnest devotion to God shaped the very foundation of his days. He earnestly sought God in all aspects of his life and strove each day to keep Him at the center, allowing his faith to guide his actions and cultivate a spirit of compassion, generosity, and humility that endeared him to all.

Dean radiated warmth and good humor. He was known for his kindness—a quality that colored every interaction, big or small. His happy place was undeniably by the side of his wife, Jacky, whose companionship was his greatest comfort. Together, they strove to build a home that echoed with laughter and love, where Dean’s competitive yet funny spirit shone brightest, particularly when surrounded by family or engrossed in the thrills of his favorite sports teams. To those who knew him best, Dean’s steadfast loyalty to the Minnesota Vikings became a beloved hallmark, sparking countless spirited conversations and memories around the joys and heartbreaks of the game.

Yet it was his deep pride in his sons, Christopher Wilson and Thomas Oelkers, that brought Dean immeasurable joy. Watching them grow into family men and find their own paths filled him with a quiet satisfaction—a reflection of a father’s love and a guide’s gentle encouragement. Every milestone they reached was a source of celebration, and to see them stand on their own two feet stood among his proudest accomplishments.

Dean loved his family: brothers David (Jean) Oelkers and Daniel (Mary) Oelkers, and his sister Debra (Ron) Jerikovsky, Scott Carlson (cousin) who was more like a brother. Growing up together was a blessing he frequently mentioned throughout the years.  As he joins his parents, Donald and Donna Oelkers, in eternal rest, his family remains together, bound in gratitude for the years shared and the love bestowed.

To honor Dean Marty Oelkers, a Celebration of Life will be held on August 18, 2026, at River Valley Church – Apple Valley Campus, located at 14898 Energy Way, Apple Valley, MN 55124. Friends and loved ones are welcome to gather from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. The service will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by a banquet in his memory. Guests are kindly invited to park near door C.

Dean leaves behind a legacy defined not by material achievements, but by the sincerity of his faith, the quiet depth of his kindness, and the strength of his love for family. May his memory live on in the laughter he inspired, the lessons he imparted, and the enduring bonds he so thoughtfully nurtured.
