David Earl Draper

David Earl Draper, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away on December 2, 2025, in Ripley, Illinois, at the age of 63. Born on November 3, 1962, in Springfield, Illinois, he his life with an adventurous spirit and a deep love for the simple pleasures that brought him joy.

David was known for his love of bike rides and cherished moments spent strolling with his dog, Butters. His vibrant personality made him one of a kind; those who knew him could always expect the unexpected, as he had a knack for sharing humorous and thoughtful remarks that would light up any gathering. He leaves behind fond memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.

He is survived by his three children, Misty, Nathan, and Brandon Draper, who will carry forward his legacy. David also took great pride in his role as a grandfather to his thirteen-year-old grandson, Caleb Draper, whose laughter and youthful spirit brought him immense joy.

In addition to his children, David is survived by his brother, Jerry Walden Sr., along with his sisters, Susan Brown McKitrick and Yvonne Draper-Potter, all of whom will miss his vibrant presence and loving nature. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Dawn Draper, who shared in the journey of life with him.

David was born to Barbara and James Draper, and he will be lovingly remembered as a cherished member of his family and community. A small gathering for a memorial will be held at a later date when the weather is more accommodating, allowing loved ones to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man.
