Calvin Daniel Martin Sr., 65, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026, in Belleville, WI. He was born on April 11, 1961, the son of Lawrence “Larry” and Dorothy Martin.
Calvin’s life was marked by a genuine joy for simple pleasures and the company of those he loved. His favorite thing to do was fishing, especially when he could spend time on the river—his true happy place. Whether casting a line into peaceful waters or sharing quiet moments surrounded by nature, Calvin found solace and happiness by the riverbank.
Beyond his love for fishing, Calvin enjoyed shooting pool, finding joy in friendly competition and laughter with friends and family. Perhaps most notably, he was known as a storyteller and a teller of jokes—his ability to light up a room with his quick wit and a humorous tale brought joy to all he encountered. Calvin was also the person you'd call when something needed fixing. With skills spanning from car repairs to construction and electrical work, he was a handyman whose expertise and willingness to help seemed boundless. There was little that Calvin could not fix, and his talents made him an invaluable presence in the lives of those who knew him.
Calvin is survived by his son, Calvin Martin Jr. of Monroe, WI; daughter, Celine (Jason) Andes of Easley, SC; brothers, Donovan (Melanie) Martin, Alden (Roxann) Martin, Jerome (Vikki Oppold) Martin, Douglas (Arline) Martin, and Rodney Martin; sister, Angela (Kirk) Janicke; and numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; James, and son; Cody James Martin.
A memorial service/luncheon will be held in the spring.
