Bruce will be remembered with affection for the life he lived, the interests he pursued so wholeheartedly.

Mr. Bruce Elliott Hopping, 79, Galesburg, Illinois died at 5:58A.M. Wednesday August 26, 2026 at Knox County Nursing Home.

He passed peacefully and was given exceptional care by all who were involved, with his loving family and friends in support.

He was born July 27, 1947 in Knox County the son of David N. and Lula M. Hopping.

Bruce is survived by his son Mathew A. Hopping of Auckland, New Zealand and daughter Nichole R (Charlie) Reid of Rock Hill, South Carolina, his sister Judy (Warren) Davies, brother Dale (Suzie) Hopping; and 3 grand children.

He took great pride in his service to the country in the United States Air Force 1966-1970. He was also known as an All-Star pitcher at Knoxville high school. In his working life, Bruce and his wife Kathleen owned and operated Galesburg Realty and then he moved into the insurance business managing an office in Rome, GA for Prudential. Later in life, Bruce was a proprietor Of Galesburg‘s popular country western bar the B&B Round Up. One of his most enjoyable endeavors.

Bruce found joy in simple and lasting pleasures. He loved baseball, fishing, hunting, bowling, Cubs games, darts, and Pool. A Cubs game shared with family and friends was one of his happiest places, as was time spent on the lake with a fishing pole in his hand.

Bruce will be remembered with affection for the life he lived, the interests he pursued so wholeheartedly and the gentle, kind spirit he brought to those around him. His memory will remain with all who knew him.

There will be a gathering for family and friends at the home of Charlie and Nichole Reid on Sunday September 6th 1:30 - 3:30PM.
