Bruce Hopping

Bruce Hopping, born on July 27, 1947, passed away on August 26, 2026.

Bruce will be remembered for his sunny personality and for the quiet, kind, and gentle way he moved through life. He had a gift for words and expressed himself through poetry, sharing a thoughtful and reflective side that complemented his warm nature.

He took great pride in serving in the United States Air Force, a meaningful accomplishment in his life. He was also known as an All-Star pitcher at Knoxville High School, a distinction that reflected both talent and dedication. In his working life, Bruce became the owner of Galesburg Realty and was also the owner and operator of Galesburg’s popular country western bar, the B&B Roundup.

Bruce found joy in simple and lasting pleasures. He loved baseball, fishing, hunting, bowling, Cubs games, and pool. A Cubs game shared with family and friends was one of his happy places, as was time spent on the lake with a fishing pole in his hand.

Bruce will be remembered with affection for the life he lived, the interests he pursued so wholeheartedly, and the gentle spirit he brought to those around him. His memory will remain with all who knew him.
